Document types
Each document gets its numbering prefix here, and the type decides what posting it does to stock and to the ledger.

Fields
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Name / description | Shown in the app and on PDFs |
| Code prefix | Numbering prefix (INV, GRN, SCT). Numbers are PREFIX-000001, sequential per company |
| Stock effect | What posting does to warehouse quantities: none, increase, decrease or transfer |

Change prefixes before you create the first document of that type. The built-in types cannot be deleted.
Stock effect

|---|---|
| Increase | Goods receipt, sales return |
| Decrease | Delivery, goods issue, POS receipt, pick wave, purchase return, work order parts |
| Transfer | Stock transfer, consignment movement |
| None | Quotation, sales order, purchase order, invoices, payroll run |
Financial effect
Posting these documents creates a journal entry automatically, using the system accounts in your chart of accounts:
| Document | Typical journal |
|---|---|
| Sales invoice | Dr Accounts receivable / Cr Sales revenue, Cr Sales tax (+ COGS / Inventory when stock is relieved) |
| Sales return | The reverse |
| POS receipt | Dr Cash or Bank / Cr Revenue, Cr Sales tax; Dr COGS / Cr Inventory |
| Purchase invoice | Dr Expense or Inventory, Dr Purchase tax / Cr Accounts payable |
| Purchase return | The reverse |
| Payroll run | Dr Wages expense / Cr Payroll payable, Cr Payroll tax payable |
| Stock count | Shortages and surpluses against Inventory |
Payments, bank registers, manual journals, depreciation, leases, loans, FX revaluation and compensations also post — they are Finance documents in their own right.
Why can't I switch on 'posts to ledger' for some types?
Only documents whose journal Uktupus knows how to build can post to the ledger. The others are commercial or operational documents with no accounting effect.
